book of the month: november

The way I used to be is my new favorite book. This wonderful novel by Amber Smith is a work of fiction, but really realistic. Eden, the main character, is experiencing a lot of things that might seem horrible, but the truth is that it's way more common than we think. Being a teenage girl in our society is far from being easy. By giving a voice to Eden, Amber Smith didn't only denunciate how quickly acts can literally change lives but also how easy it is to hide things.

Here’s the triggers warnings: sexual assault, mental abuse, uses of drugs and alcohol.

I personally think that everyone who's ever been touched without their consent would feel comforted by this book.

As a slow reader, I’ve read it in two weeks. Every single character has their own personality, you will love them or hate them. The story shows how Eden grows with her past traumas. She’s just a teenage girl, she goes through multiple different emotions, she makes mistakes, sometimes she has problems and sometimes she is the problem. Her mental evolution is super realistic and interesting to read.

If you're still not sure about wanting to read it or not, there's a note from the author:
